Carbage’s Language Arts Classes
Our focus this week is the five-seven paragraph essay. We will be using writing prompts and developing essays within a 35 minute time frame. We will use rubrics to score the essays. All students will take a writing test on Thursday. Germantown Middle was chosen as a part of a pilot program for this particular test.
Progress reports will be sent home on Wednesday.
SPI’s:
- 8.2.02 Students will write for a variety of audiences and purposes
- 8.2.02 Students will write in the expository mode
- 8.2.02 Students will write personal reflections to situations, experiences, and events for self and others
Tuesday- Students will listen to a musical selection and base their writing on the music. We will begin the exercise in class and complete it for homework.
Wednesday- Students will present an original skit/play from The Pigman. This will be graded with a rubric.
Thursday-Students will respond to a writing prompt and write for approximately 35 minutes.
Friday is Fall Festival day!!!
