Language Arts, October 15-19, 2007
This week will be spent reading and discussing The Pigman.
SPI’s include:
- 8.1.04 Use decoding strategies
- 8.1.05 Read to develop fluency, expression, accuracy, and confidence
- 8.1.07 Develop independent pre-reading strategies to facilitate comprehenson
As we read, we will focus on the following skills for the entire week:
- Cause and Effect
- Recalling Details
- Drawing Conclusions
- Contextual Meanings
By Monday, students should have read chapters 1-6. We will begin to work on an in-class project pertaining to the characters in the story. Details will be sent home on Monday.
By Wednesday, students should have read chapters 1-8.
We will review on Thursday in preparation for our test on Friday.
We will have a test on Friday that will cover chapters 1-8. The test will also include the skills covered for the week (listed above).
